Padraig Parkinson - 2010 Irish Poker Champion
“I was born just down the road so I can’t believe that I won it. If anyone wants a drink, I’m buying!’
Padraig Parkinson needs little introduction as one of Irish poker’s most famous sons. A professional poker player for 20 years Parkinson has successfully turned his hand to commentating and broadcasting as well as doing a lot of charity work for the homeless. Parkinson finished third in the WSOP Main Event in 1999 for $489,125 when fellow Irishman Noel Furlong won. As well as playing high profile poker he is famous for his gift of the gab and caustic wit. Irish poker legend Padraig Parkinson made history by winning the very first PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour event in Galway.
Parkinson, who was born in Galway, received his share of hometown support as he outlasted 258 players to win €125,000 and the inaugural UKIPT Galway title.
